About Tampa Fishing
Fish the inshore backwaters of Tampa Bay, St. Petersburg, Clearwater, Ruskin, Palmetto, Bradenton, Anna Maria and Sarasota bays for snook, redfish, trout and tarpon. The west coast of Florida offers some of the best fishing opportunities for scoring the inshoreslam. Tampa Bay is Florida's largest open-water estuary covering 398 square miles at high tide. The bay is a popular destination for recreation, and supports one of the world's most productive natural estuaries. Salt water and fresh water mix and provide nurseries for young fish, shrimp, and crabs providing a food source for the inshoreslam species. In addition, Tampa Bay has as many as 40,000 birds, ranging from the brown pelican to the colorful roseate spoonbill.
About the Captain
Captain “Dorado Jim" grew up fishing the Atlantic, and became passionate about fishing from a young age. He moved to the west coast of Florida in the 90s, after falling in love with the area's incredible wildlife and fantastic fishing. Always passionate about the outdoors, he earned a Bachelors of Science in Biology and Chemistry, majoring in wildlife biology. Dorado Jim has been a USCG licensed captain, (100 Ton Master MMC Credentialed) since 2001, and he spends over 100 days a year on the water, guiding other people to fish and sharing his passion and knowledge of the water. He is often a guest speaker at local and national events and his articles have been featured in many publications. While Captain Dorado Jim has a history of being a very successful tournament fisherman, nowadays he likes to concentrate on teaching other people the joys of being out on the water.
